My name is Etsuko Iwai, President and Founder of USJP Rockwell Education and Beyond.
I first came to the United States in 1980 as one of the earliest Japanese female expatriates in the trading industry, serving in the Aerospace Division. Since then, Los Angeles has become my permanent home. After retiring from corporate life, I devoted more than 40 years to overseas education for Japanese and Japanese-American children.
At a Japanese supplementary school, I taught elementary and middle school students, later assuming leadership roles as an administrator and ultimately as Executive Director. At the high school level, I served as project leader for the launch of a new academic program designed to maximize students’ abilities and future opportunities—a vision that was successfully realized.
Beyond school leadership, I have worked as an educational counselor, collaborated with the Japan Overseas Educational Services (JOES),and contributed as a research fellow to the Ministry of Education’s AG+Project for Priority Support of Overseas Educational Facilities. These experiences reinforced my conviction that empowering children requires not only effective instruction but also dedicated teachers who can inspire growth and resilience.
Through USJP Rockwell Education and Beyond, my mission is to carry this vision forward on two fronts:
With this dual commitment—to educational innovation and organizational integrity—we aim to create lasting impact for both individuals and institutions in a rapidly changing global society.
